Terms, Ordering

Orders.  We accept orders by telephone (including voice mail), fax, email, the secure order form on this website and, naturally, in person at the store, where we can hold an item in reserve for pick-up or future shipment.

Hours of Operation. See the "Contact" tab to the left. We are often taking and filling orders at other times and are pleased to respond to voice mail and email inquiries. We are glad to open by appointment.

Payment. We accept payment, in advance, in US dollars by check, money order, Visa, or MasterCard. Institutions may establish credit.

Returns. Books are returnable for full refund for any reason within seven days of receipt. Return postage is for the account of the purchaser unless the book is not as described. Other items are also returnable within seven days of receipt unless they are one-of-a-kind antiques or artworks, in which case we reserve the right to offer credit toward future purchases only.

Shipping. Book orders in the US will be sent promptly via the US Post Office by "media mail" or "bound printed matter". Please allow up to three weeks for delivery. Priority mail, UPS, FedEx, or other handling are available for an additional charge on request. Larger packages and items other than books may be sent at our choice of ground carriers unless otherwise requested. International orders will be sent by air mail or Global Priority unless otherwise arranged.

Shipping Charges. US book orders are charged $5.00 for the first and $1.00 for each additional book. Oversize books, items other than books, and international shipments will be charged at the cost incurred by us of packaging, postage, and insurance. Be sure to ask for any special arrangements desired. Ship models and larger antique items are normally turned over to a professional firm for packing an shipping.

Definitions. Unless otherwise described, all books are 8vo or 12mo, clothbound, in good condition or better. Book sizes: 16mo (sextodecimo): up to 6 3/4" in height; 12mo (duodecimo): up to 7 3/4"; 8vo (octavo): up to 9 "; 4to (quarto): up to 12"; folio: up to 15" tall. In oblong books, the width is greater than the height. DJ means dust jacket; wraps (or wrappers) are the covers on paperback books, which are usually identified as Softcover.
